Hamamatsu/Queen's PET
Imaging Center LLC |
|
|
The Hamamatsu/Queen’s PET (Positron Emission Tomography)
Imaging Center LLC is a joint venture between Hamamatsu
Photonics of Japan (a leading manufacturer of high end
electronic components and medical equipment) and the
Queen’s
Medical
Center
(Hawaii’s largest healthcare provider). Started in 1997,
the Center was created to build, operate, manage, and
maintain a state of the art PET imaging center located at
the Queen’s Medical Center. |

Liholiho Cyclotron Building |
| |
The
Liholiho
Cyclotron Building which covers 4,032 square feet, is one
of the crown jewels on the QMC campus. The Liholiho
Cyclotron Building is a dedicated, high tech laboratory
that manufactures the radioisotope tracers which are used
in the PET scans. The entire manufacturing process resides
in this all encompassing facility, from producing the
radioisotopes, to maintaining quality control. It is the
only medical cyclotron for producing positron emitting
compounds in the State of
Hawaii. Having this manufacturing capability next door to the
PET Imaging Center ensures that the Hamamatsu/Queen’s PET
Imaging Center
can systematically control every aspect of the PET
process. |
